[ Regions ]
Yggdrasil
– A frozen island far to the north, surrounded by a light
consuming prison known as the Leviathans’ Cradle. This island
holds many old, ancient things, and is the birthplace of the
Magicians and home of the Jotunns, the largest and eldest surviving
variant of the Magicians. Many scholars dream of traversing the
frigged lands of Yggdrasil and exploring the labyrinthian library
located within the capital of Johtunheim, however any non-Jotunn who
manages to reach Yggdrasil is forbidden from ever leaving. Those who
attempt to leave with Yggdrasil's secrets become food for the beasts
that dwell in the cradle’s depths.
Leviathans’ Cradle
– The deep, light-eating abyss that surrounds
Yggdrasil like a prison, isolating it from the rest of Mirumundi. It
is home to titanic beasts, Nidhoggs, that patrol the cradle and
attack any who attempt to pass through. The Jotunns are the only ones
with knowledge on how to safely pass through the cradle without
attracting the ire of the Nidhoggs. Magicians sailing near the border
of the cradle may occasionally hear voices coming from the cradle’s
depths, singing songs in an unknown, yet familiar language.
Midgard
– A massive continent south-west of Yggdrasil, home of the
Wizards and Dragons. Regions towards the west coast and surrounding
the equator are mainly populated by the Wizards. Most Dragon
territories are within the north-east and nearby islands. Wizards and
Dragons travel freely between territories, but mainly concentrate in
specific regions due to preferred climates.
Loki’s Claw
– A chain of islands at Midgard’s north-east
that points and curls like a claw towards the direction of Yggdrasil.
Loki’s Claw is mainly populated by Dragons, and is a hub for
knowledge and research.
Draugrs’ Spring
– A massive crater dotted with hot-springs
located towards the eastern side of Midgard. It is the end product of
a violent war between the Jotunn and Sorcerers, an ancient, extinct
variant of Magician. What created the crater is unknown to the
Wizards and Dragons, however high-ranking Jotunn scholars have access
to information on the crater, but such knowledge is forbidden from
leaving Yggdrasil. Being within the presence of the crater is very
harrowing for Magicians, as the high concentration of magic in the
area causes physical discomfort and hallucinations. Wizards are
especially affected by the lingering magic, resulting in involuntary
shape-shifting and stronger symptoms from the exposure.
